The conformity study that Solomon Asch conducted in 1951 is something I have learned about in Psychology:
It's about an individual conceding to social pressure from a group, with a reason for doing so being acceptance and another and individual thinking the group is privy to knowledge that they aren't. It's my favourite Psychology study and I do suggest watching the above short clip.
