Yep, more walking! And daylight

As sunshine-filled weather is occurring frequently and seeing as the clocks went forward (last Sunday), I finally achieved something today that I hadn't done before: Go on a long walk with my brother and mother around Clifton. I go on plenty of longs walks by myself while Mum and by brother go on theirs together but today is the first time all three of us went on one here.

The clocks having gone forward an hour really makes a difference. When I have gone on a long walk and have taken a bus back to Clifton, it's been great returning here in daylight/dusk rather than in darkness.

"Million Voices" - Otto Knows

I find it hard to believe this song was released almost five years ago; I thought it came out in late 2013 or sometime in 2014. I also thought I might have written about it before:

It's "Million Voices" by Otto Knows, a Swedish DJ, and does not come from any album. I don't know...I was certain it was much later than 2012 - that year seems just like so long ago. Then again, 2014 seems like a long time ago, too.

The full version of "Million Voices" can be found here:

The conflicting sessions

As a result of my choice to undertake the practical side of one of my Media modules, my timetable underwent a change; this was something I had completely expected. What I had not expected, though, was for my new Media workshop session to occur at the same time as my American literature lecture and subsequent seminar.

Unsurprisingly, this worried me, for if this were to be my permanent timetable for the rest of the year, I would miss one of my modules; it would be unlikely for me to pass Year 1 with such a huge amount of information lost and sessions missed. Before I went to bed last night, I emailed my course leader, a module leader and a lecturer related to the practical side of the Media module. This morning, I received a response saying that I had been moved to the Tuesday Media workshop while the rest of my timetable remained unchanged; I was also thanked for spotting this and reporting it so quickly.

And thus, my concerns from last night were resolved by the morning. I wasn't looking forward to the prospect of missing one of my modules for the rest of the year. I'm glad it was addressed and in a timely manner!

As 2016 finishes

Here in the United Kingdom, 2017 is less than six hours away while in other parts of the world, the new year is already here. I had intended to have my next blog party post up today but due to changes in plans, it'll have to wait a day or two.

I hope you had a good 2016 and are looking forward to an even more productive 2017.

Just a week to go

It's astounding to think that this time next week, the Christmas holiday will begin, which will herald in the end of my college class' course for 2014. Sociology will be the final lesson of the year whereas our last English class is tomorrow. It's strange...early September dually feels as though it were a long time ago and not that long ago at all.

College doesn't start again until the 7th of January, which will be our first Employability lesson of 2015. Where has the time gone and to where is it disappearing?

Cousin and clocks

Today has been mostly quiet. My Lincoln cousin returned to her city this afternoon, and my aunt and uncle will return to the East of England tomorrow. We'll be a few people short here and will be another person short when my brother heads back home next Sunday.

The clocks changed last night: they were set back by one hour. While it'll be nice to have lighter mornings for the next few months, it does, as always, come at the expense of the Sun setting earlier, which will lead to darker evenings. Today, it was starting to become dark at around 5:00pm.

The microwave time

A short power outage occurred yesterday morning; for the most part the electronics in the house were unaffected, but a couple of devices with manual clocks had to be reset. One such device was the microwave, which, thanks to the outage, is now synchronised with the oven clock. Strange as it may seem, I've found this incredibly annoying.

Our microwave, for whatever reason, gains time over the course of a month, topping out at around ten minutes ahead of the actual time. The scarceness of power losses United Kingdom combined with the lack of a need to unplug the microwave has resulted in me becoming used to subtracting ten minutes whenever I look at the microwave clock. Now when I'm in the kitchen I have to check the oven clock because I can't trust the microwave...even though the latter is currently correct!

Ah well, it's one of those small, silly things that makes life more interesting. It won't be long before the microwave is back on its "correct" time.
