As I implied last night, I spent New Year's Eve at home. What separated it from previous ends and beginnings of years is that my Hong Kong uncle was present; I don't recall ever spending the start of a year with him. I should also note that neither my parents nor my brother were with me, so it's the first New Year's Eve and New Year I've experienced without them.
When the New Year began, my uncle, grandfather and I watched the fireworks that were taking place in London at the London Eye; after that, my uncle went to bed while my grandfather and I watched a musical performance from Queen, who are currently fronted by Adam Lambert. Both the fireworks and the concert were worth watching, even via television.
Happy New Year! Let's have an amazing 2015!

Back in Northamptonshire August 2014
I am now back in Northamptonshire after spending over a week at my grandparents' house in Nottingham. I have a little more college information to mention: on Saturday, an enrolment letter arrived in the mail. While I have a phone call or two to make first, all I need to do is sign this letter and send it back to the college. I will then attend the college's enrolment day late this month, which will coincide with when I move up to Nottingham. The times are changing!
As for last night's fireworks, they were spectacular. I have taken some pictures but they are not of the fireworks.

Nottingham Riverside Festival 2014
In about an hour or so, my East of England aunt and I will be attending the Nottingham Riverside Festival. We'll be meeting up with my Nottingham aunt and maybe one or two of my cousins.
I can't promise any pictures; the light levels will be low and I don't want to be taking lots of pictures when I should be enjoying fireworks. I'll see what I can do, though!

Liveland History: 5 July 2011
On the 5th of July, 2011, I wrote the post "Fireworks (again)":
In it, I posted a short video that I had filmed on one of family's last days of living in Littleport, Cambridgeshire. The video featured sound effects of some fireworks that had occurred the night before on the 4th of July. We attributed the Independence Day firework celebrations to the presence of United States military bases and personnel in the area; even so, we did not expect to see or hear any fireworks that evening and we were pleasantly by them.
The post is also significant because it was the first time that my friend and fellow blogger Jessica commented here. This was after I commented on this post of hers. I first encountered Jessica when I clicked on her Blogger profile from another blog, titled Green Eyed Opinons; she also once guest posted on Green Eyed Opinons. Unfortunately, that blog no longer exists.

Wishing everybody, in particular my US readers, a happy Independence Day; as of today, the United States has been in existence for 236 years.
I hope those of you who have celebrations planned will have a good time; unfortunately, I have had a bad cough both all day and for this past week. My family seems to be dealing with two colds at the moment (my mother and I have one that I picked up, and Dad and my brother have one that Dad caught), so it is not exactly fun here at the moment.
It would be nice if we get a firework display akin to the surprise one we saw in Littleport last year. That would certainly improve the day!
Happy Independence Day, or even just happy Fourth...whichever you prefer!

Non-stop fireworks
For close to two weeks, there have been fireworks going off nearly every night. Even now, as I type this, I can hear fireworks. Prior to Halloween, the fireworks were probably being let off because of Diwali, then they were likely being launched in anticipation of Halloween itself. After that, the reason for them being used was the run-up to a celebration here in the United Kingdom called Guy Fawkes Night, and then Guy Fawkes Night itself. As for tonight, I have no idea why they are still going on, other than the fact that some people probably still have some fireworks left over!
Have no worries, I am not suddenly opposed to celebrations: however, hearing fireworks nearly every night for close to two weeks can get somewhat irritating. On the other hand, these people are having a good time, so perhaps I should not let it bother me too much.

Nottingham Riverside Festival 2011 videos
Here are three videos I took at the Nottingham Riverside Festival for 2011:
This is of one of the many rides at the Nottingham Riverside Festival.
This is just a brief view of the Trent (an English river that crosses multiple counties, and also separates Nottingham and the nearby town of West Bridgford) during the night I went to the festival.
Finally, this one is of a couple of boats on the Trent. I did take a movie of the fireworks, but the upload crashed, as my Internet seems to be a bit slow at the moment, though in all fairness the video is almost 300 megabytes in size (smaller files like these seem to be okay). I might try uploading again another day. In the meantime, the above videos are only the beginning (besides the rainbow picture) of the visuals I have to post about my Nottingham trip!

Fireworks! (again)
As promised, here is a video of the Fourth of July fireworks. Unfortunately, I could not see the fireworks very easily from my window, but they could clearly be heard (I was also in a hurry trying to find my camera to record what was going on). As such, the video is mainly sound rather than effects, but some small flashes of light can be seen.
It may not seem like much, but I am pleased that I did get to hear fireworks and see a little bit of them!

Fireworks!
Well this was unexpected: in my last post I mentioned about a lack of fireworks, and just now from my bedroom window I listened to and watched a small Fourth of July fireworks display! I do not have any time at the moment to post a video of it, but tomorrow I will get one up. This is both exciting and a nice surprise!
Independence Day
I would like to wish a happy Fourth of July to my American friends and followers, as well as to anyone else happy to join in! Yes, I still do celebrate the Fourth of July, regardless of the change in country, as it was something we celebrated for so long. Of course, today has not been that exciting here, as it is only days to our next move, but there has still been time to celebrate. Sadly, I do not have any fireworks, but coincidentally, "Firework" by Katy Perry has been playing on my radio while I have been typing this up, so that is something then!
Happy Independence Day everyone!
