The cooling towers

When riding the train up to Nottingham today for tomorrow's control, I photographed the Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station as my train stopped:

I don't recall ever being this close to the power station before; then again, I hadn't ever ridden a train on the Nottinghamshire-Leicestershire line until today, either. It was quite impressive experiencing a close view of the cooling towers!

The power plant has appeared in previous posts of mine: here, here and here.

The distant power plant

Remember the Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station? Here it is from a distance:

I've been wanting to photograph the power plant from this vantage point for several days but I didn't have a good enough chance to do so until early this evening. I'll see if I can photograph it at an earlier time on a day when the sky is clear.

Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station

On the way back from Stratford-upon-Avon, I took this picture of Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station:
I did it in my uncle's car while it was in motion and I had my camera on zoom. This was considered a brilliant image to family members I showed it to, and I am pretty impressed with it as well: it has a good contrast between the power plant with the vehicles and landscape, it is perfectly straight, and the light was just right. A power station is probably visually unappealing to most people, but I think my picture made this one look decent.
